DC Comics
Get ready for some serious villain action this October! DC Comics just dropped their lineup of Absolute Universe titles, and it looks like things are about to get wicked. One of the highlights is the Absolute Evil one-shot, where writer Al Ewing teams up some of the baddest villains around, including Ra's al Ghul, Veronica Kale, Hector Hammond, Eleanor Thawne, and the Joker. Plus, we’ll see the introduction of two brand-new characters!
But that’s not all! Daniel Warren Johnson is stepping up to write and draw the Absolute Batman 2025 Annual, which dives into Batman's early days and reveals how he got his epic Batmobile. Talk about a must-read!
In the main titles, Absolute Batman is wrapping up its battle against Bane, while Absolute Wonder Woman is set to uncover some big secrets about the Amazons. And guess what? Ra's al Ghul is invading Kansas in Absolute Superman! To top it off, DC has teased that Absolute Martian Manhunter will be making a comeback in December. It’s a great time to be a DC fan!
Marvel
Now, let’s switch gears to Marvel. Remember when Marvel's Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski hinted at a Young Avengers comeback at Osaka Comic-Con back in May 2024? Well, it turns out that was a bit of a tease! Editor Tom Brevoort later said that the news was “wildly misinterpreted and exaggerated.”
However, current Supergirl writer and artist Sophie Campbell recently revealed that she worked on a Young Avengers relaunch last year before it got canceled. She shared this on Blue Sky, saying, “I worked on a Young Avengers relaunch last year before they pulled the plug on it.” So, it seems there was something brewing after all!
With the MCU in a bit of a shuffle and no official announcements for a Young Avengers movie or series, it’s hard to say if we’ll see these heroes anytime soon. Fingers crossed that they make a comeback!
Tops Sales Charts
In sales news, Ultimate Wolverine #1 has taken the top spot in comic book sales from January to April 2025! According to ICV2, this chart focuses on dollars earned rather than copies sold, giving the $5.99 price tag an edge over lower-priced comics.
Following Wolverine, we have Batman #158 at number two and two slots taken by Absolute Batman. Rounding out the top five are Absolute Flash #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #1. It looks like DC's Absolute line is really making waves!
For graphic novels, the DC vs. Marvel Amalgam Age Omnibus took the top slot at $150, with Ultimate Spider-Man and TMNT: The Last Ronin coming in second and third.
That’s all for today’s comic book news! Stay tuned for more updates and keep reading those comics!
